August 2017 – The Canyon Courier featured SRC’s leadership transition in a joint interview with our retiring and incoming CEOs.
“The Seniors’ Resource Center has a new leader, and she and longtime SRC head John Zabawa are working together to ensure a smooth transition. Monica Roers, originally from Minnesota, was hired as executive director at the end of June, and she is replacing Zabawa, who had that position for 35 years.
“Monica has vision and has passion,” said SRC board chair Deborah Brackney in a press release. “She has a clear view of how to lead our organization forward.”
The Seniors’ Resource Center is based in Wheat Ridge but also has locations in Evergreen and Littleton, and provides services to seniors and their caregivers across the metro area. Zabawa might be a tough act to follow, but Roers said she is up for the challenge, particularly since the pair will have some time to work together, sharing ideas, advice and knowledge.”
