SRC’s A-Lift Transportation Services Make Huge Impact in Adams County

Featured recently in The Denver Post, the A-Lift program run by Seniors’ Resource Center provides free rides to Adams County residents who are 60 and older or have a mobile disability.  The recent article highlighted that last year 700 Adams County sideimage3residents used the service, taking around rides in 2014.

SRC has been managing this service for over 12 years with great success.  The service is truly crucial to many in our community and part of a metro-wide program of services SRC provides to older adults to help them maintain the ability to age at home.  The Transportation program is the largest SRC program and it continues to grow, as the demand for services like this grows faster every year.

As quoted in the article, SRC Transportation Director Hank Braaksma pointed this out.  “Many of our clients are on a fixed income, that’s how important this is to them,” he said. “A lot of people don’t understand the need to allow someone to remain independent in their home. The need for transportation becomes a piece of that, and also the cost associated with the service is high.”
